Madwax Records LLC is a Chicago-based indie record label that kicked off in 2024, thanks to the efforts of Andre Owens and Rafael Rios. They focus on dropping tracks that cover dance, house, EDM, and a mix of other genres, all while showcasing talent from Chicago and beyond.
Andre Owens, a Chicago native, exemplifies his profound passion for music, transcending the limits of our reality. With a career that has flourished for over three decades, he has played a pivotal role in the evolution of house music. Beginning his journey as a DJ and a devoted vinyl enthusiast, Andre secured a record deal with DJ International Records in Chicago. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed figures such as Rodney Bakerr from Rocking House Records, renowned producer Tyree Cooper, Rio D, Andre Dejo, Armon “Professor Funk” Ransom, and Jeff Islinger from Hair Bear Studios. His talents as a producer, songwriter, and cinematographer have allowed him to explore a variety of music genres, partnering with R&B artist “Gemini” Edgar Porter of Men At Large, Ten City’s Byron Stingily, rap artist “Wildstyle Crucial Conflict,” Urban Grind TV, comedian Alex Ortiz, R&B artist David Josias, actor-singer William L. Johnson, and many others.
Rafael Rios, a successful businessman and former lawyer hailing from Chicago, has an outstanding professional background. He began his career as a legal counsel for McDonald’s Corporation after completing his studies at Northwestern University School of Law, and later moved on to private practice. In addition, he served as an Assistant to the Mayor of Chicago, demonstrating his dedication to public service. Rafael’s love for music is deeply ingrained in his family’s musical heritage, which has only served to further fuel his passion for the music industry.
